What is breast augmentation?

What happens during a breast augmentation procedure?
Breast augmentation is typically an outpatient procedure that can be conducted in a day. In the Pacific Northwest, Breast Augmentation patients are given the option to receive a local or general anesthesia for the procedure. Once the indicated areas are sufficiently numbed, the breast augmentation surgery can begin.
What should I expect during recovery?
It is normal for the patient to experience soreness, swelling, and bruising at the operation site. Drainage tubes will be used to drain out any excess fluid and blood for a few days, and compression bandages are recommended to reduce the swelling and provide the patient with extra support during recovery. Physical activities must be limited to prevent complications, and any sign of infection must be reported to the physician immediately.
