About Our Office & Facility

Our Mission Statement:

“Safe surgery, satisfied patients and absolute confidentiality.”

Safe: Should a general anesthetic be required for your particular procedure, a board certified anesthesiologist will be present at all times to ensure your utmost safety. All procedures are performed in a hospital affiliated surgery center.

Satisfied: If we feel we cannot deliver the surgical results that a patient expects, we are forthright with this information. Our goal is to make you happy and to make your cosmetic plastic surgery experience a positive one.

Confidentiality: Our staff fully understands the need for absolute confidentiality; they respect this without exception.

Dr. Semlacher and his entire Sacramento Plastic Surgery staff would like to make your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible.

All of Dr. Semlacher’s surgeries are performed in the hospital affiliated Mercy San Juan Surgery Center, providing all the same high standards of care found in M.S.J.M.C. operating rooms. The Mercy San Juan Surgery Center is located near Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael.

The surgery center only employs board -certified anesthesiologists and operating room nurses. And it only grants privileges to board-certified plastic surgeons like Dr. Semlacher who are qualified to perform plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures.

Many of the procedures Dr. Semlacher performs are done on an outpatient basis. This means that a hospital stay is not required and you can return home the same day as your surgery.

Dr. Semlacher will contact you in the evening the same day as your surgery to ensure that all is going well; he will see you the day after your surgery in his Sacramento office.

Services provided by Dr. Semlacher and his Staff include:

Cosmetic surgery of the face; breast surgery,  and body sculpting surgery.

Out of town accommodations and post-operative aftercare arrangements for Plastic Surgery patients travelling to Sacramento.
Literature customized to each individual and their needs is provided after consultation.

On the day of your surgery, medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. A general anesthetic may be administered, so that you will be asleep during the entire procedure. A board-certified anesthesiologist will administer you anesthetic and will be present at all times to ensure utmost safety. When your surgery is completed, you will be taken to a recovery area where you will be closely monitored. Small drain tubes may have been placed to help avoid the accumulation of fluids. Gauze or other dressings may also be used.

You may be permitted to go home after a few hours, unless you and Dr. Semlacher have determined that you will stay in the hospital or surgical facility overnight.

While making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home and to spend the first night after surgery. Also you will require assistance the first few post-operative days. If you have young children someone should most definitely assist you for the first week post-operatively.

After your initial healing period, you will return to our office for a post- operative follow-up visit so your progress can be evaluated. In the following months, Dr. Semlacher will ask you to return for periodic checkups. It’s important to keep these appointments so that Dr. Semlacher can assess your long-term results and address any questions or concerns you may have.

FACILITY & BOARD CERTIFIED M.D. ANESTHESIOLOGIST:

Dr. Semlacher utilizes the Mercy San Juan Medical Center affiliated surgery center exclusively for his cosmetic procedures. The Surgery center is governed and regulated by the hospital and is mandated to deliver the same high standards found in M.S.J.M.C. operating rooms. These high standards of care ensure the utmost patient safety. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has been re-certified by JACHO in 2010.
All anesthetics are provided by Board Certified M.D. Anesthesiologists. These individuals are fully trained medical doctors who have done further training (4-5 years beyond medical school) in the subspecialty of anesthesia. They have also undergone the difficult process of certification. A M.D. anesthesiologist is fully experienced and trained in the specialty of general anesthesia . These specialists administer anesthetics for open heart surgery one day and the next give the anesthetic for a cosmetic procedure. Their expertise frees up the plastic surgeon to focus on the task at hand, giving you the best surgical result possible. Dr. Semlacher strongly feels that this extra cost is worth the assurance of a safe, positive surgical experience and result.
